Quantitative and quantal data structures

Data Files for quantitative and quantal assays both have data values and Metadata as previously described, but quantal Data Files also need to specify the maximum possible value for each result as well as the result.

If the maximum value is always going to be constant, the values can be entered onto the Data Map. See Quantal Method max values.

In general, it is better to enter the maximum values via the Data File / manual input at time of Data File import, as this retains the flexibility to change the maximum value for a cell in the future without having to create a new Data Map.

The Data File for a quantal assay

The Data File should contain the maximum values for each result in the same layout as for the results:

Note that the maximum values and data values do not have to be next to each other, but must be the same size and shape, and there must be no blanks in the maximum values.
