Substance and Method Metadata can be created by selecting the cube icon.
Once selected for, the icon is shaded purple.
Next, click on the cell in the data set where the metadata is.
A coloured cube will appear next to the information in the cell and a pop up above will appear.
In the text space titled "What is this called?", a name can be given to the metadata. If unknown, QuBAS will label this as Metadata 1, 2, 3, etc. respectively.
Under "What is it?", Metadata is selected from the drop-down menu.
"What type?" drop-down menu selections indicate what format the data is in. These are either text, numeric or a date in a specific order.
For substance metadata these are also known as sample identifiers - which will then prompt the option to select the sample type.
If the metadata is required, select the tick box for this. If not, this can be left unchecked.
Finally, the colour of the cube can be changed by selecting the coloured square.
Once complete, the tick can be selected to confirm and create the Metadata.
